The best part of visiting a new town or city for me is spending time in their cafes. I feel it is the one time in your life when you can slow down and just enjoy life without having to rush to work or run an errand. The following cafes are located in Old Port Montreal and I thoroughly enjoyed my time in these spots. Keep reading to find out my list of best Montreal cafes in Old Port Montreal.

#1. Tommy Café
Location: 151 Saint-Paul St W, Montreal, Quebec H2Y 1Z5
Hours: 8 AM – 4PM every day
The cutest cafe right in Old Port Montreal. They offer a huge variety of coffees, pastries, snacks and drinks. The inside of the cafe has a great atmosphere and decor.
I recommend sitting in for a breakfast or lunch just to enjoy the environment. A bonus is grabbing a sandwich and coffee. Their bagel lox with smoked salmon was to die for! I cannot wait to go back just to get that again. They use St. Viateur bagels for their bagel lox. Tommy Café is the one to top my favourite Old Montreal cafes because of their cuteness.
PRO TIP:
There is a line in the café starting in the early morning. I would recommend lining up early, especially to get a croissant.
#2. 49th Parallel Café & Lucky Doughnuts
Location: 488 McGill St, Montreal, Quebec H2Y 2H2
Hours: Monday – Friday: 7AM – 6PM
Saturday, Sunday: 8AM – 6PM
I love this coffee spot in Montreal. It reaches the top of my list of best Montreal cafes for sure!
I am a huge espresso lover and 49th parallel has a fantastic espresso bean. This is a 3rd wave coffee place which means that they only provide specialty coffee. Are you sold yet?
To tell you even more about their coffee, I have bought their beans for my espresso machine at home in Toronto and they are fantastic. If I ever run out of my espresso beans, I go to a local coffee shop near me and buy 49th Parallel beans.
The nice thing about their café in Old Port Montreal is that there are many seats and it also features a very cozy vibe. When you go, you will notice that some people grab a spot early in the morning and work or read there for a few hours while enjoying one of the fantastic donuts and coffee.
Get up bright and early and head to 49th Parallel for a donut and coffee. They have a large variety of doughnuts and sandwiches.
The baristas are extremely talented and knowledgeable about coffee.
There is no 49th Parallel café in Toronto, so it is a really nice treat when I visit Old Port Montreal.
PRO TIP:
Get a cozy seat near the fireplace in the back. Also, head there early to make sure you have a large selection of pastries to choose from.
#3. Olive and Gourmando
Location: 351 Saint-Paul St W, Montreal QC
Hours: Monday-Saturday: 9AM – 5PM
This is another must visit for me when in Old Port Montreal. A place that will satisfy many of your cravings because of the variety of sandwiches, coffee and pastries. The atmosphere is another great one which you will see when you go.
PRO TIP:
Arrive early in the morning because it gets busy.

#4. Le Petit Dep
Location: 179 Saint-Paul St W, Montreal, Quebec H2Y 1Z5
Hours: Monday – Sunday 8AM – 11PM
Cozy spot to grab a coffee in the middle of Old Port Montreal. The aesthetic of the outside kind of makes it a more attractive place to visit. The outside has an old-fashioned style to it and can make for a cute picture. Inside the cafe sells Quebec souvenirs, tea, coffee, and dessert.
PRO TIP:
Instead of enjoying a coffee in the early morning or lunch hours, you can also visit for a glass of wine since it is open until 11pm every night.
#5. Crew Collective & Café
Location: 360 Rue Saint-Jacques, Montréal, QC H2Y 1P5
Hours: Monday- Friday: 8AM – 4PM
Saturday & Sunday: 9AM – 4PM
A very popular Old Montreal café. I personally did not have anything from the café because the line was enormous. However, I stepped inside to see the place and it was incredible. The building used to be a bank, with the teller counter converted into a study space making it a great co-working location. The café features coffee, pastries and sandwiches. From reading reviews, the sandwiches are a popular item on the menu. The bagels on their menu are from Fairmont Bagel, which are delicious.
PRO TIP:
Get there early to line up or else you will be waiting a very long time!
If you are a coffee lover like myself, then I recommend checking some of these Montreal cafes out all located in Old Port Montreal. They are all within walking distances if you are staying in Old Port Montreal which makes for an easy coffee stop in the morning or afternoon.
I hope you enjoyed reading about, in my opinion, the best Montreal cafes. I am excited to head back to Old Montreal to check out and find some more coffee spots to add to this list. Check back soon for updates!
