As a huge foodie, I am always searching for the best places to eat when I travel. Montreal is known for all kinds of famous chefs and incredible cuisine. Sometimes we aren’t in a place long enough to enjoy a sit down meal, but there is an alternative for that. Quick meals! Sometimes I have to opt for a grab and go kind of meal depending on my itinerary and there are some fantastic restaurants in Montreal that you can grab and go. There are so many amazing places to eat in Montreal right now that aren’t sit down restaurants. Here are my favourites that I think are worth visiting when you are in a hurry.

“We believe every meal should be a feast.”

If you have been following my blog posts, you would know that I truly believe in this quote. Continue reading to find out more about what feasts I indulged in in Montreal.

#1. Schwartz’s Deli

Location: 3895 Boul. Saint-Laurent, Montreal, QC

Hours: Sunday – Thursday from 10:00 am – 11 pm

Friday and Saturday: 10:00 am – Midnight

Schwartz Deli, Canada'S First Deli In Montreal Canada
A Sandwich From Schwartz Deli

One of the oldest deli’s in Canada that offers huge delicious sandwiches with smoked meats.

Be prepared for a huge line up at this place and dress warm if it is cold outside. Even though you will need to wait in a line for this place, it is one of the best restaurants in Montreal for quick meal.

PRO TIP: Get one of their pickles! Do not leave without grabbing one.

#2. Drogheria Fine

Location: 68 Av. Fairmount O, Montréal, QC H2T 2M2

Instagram: @drogheriafine

Hours: 8AM – 5PM everyday

Drogheria Fine, Gnocchi In Montreal Canada
6 Best Restaurants In Montreal For Quick Meals 27

Drogheria Fine is located beside Fairmont Bagel in Montreal. It is the only place in Montreal where you can get a delicious meal for 5 dollars! If you love gnocci, please don’t skip on this one. I am telling you you will not be disappointed in the slightest. Drogheria Fine has a cute stand with a pick up window where you order your gnocchi. You can either order the $5 dollar gnocchi as is or add a few toppings. You can get gnocchi with cheese for $5, gnocchi with extra cheese for $6, and gnocchi with extra cheese and spicy for $6.50.

There is nothing better than homemade pasta sauce and gnocchi in a take out container!

$5 gnocchi = One of the best restaurants in Montreal. Delicious and very reasonably priced.

The best part of grabbing a box of gnocci here is enjoying it on the benches on a busy street of Montreal.

PRO TIP: They only take Cash or Debit

#3. La Banquise

Location: 994 Rue Rachel E, Montreal, QC

Hours: Open 24 Hours everyday

La Banquise, One Of Montreals Best Fast Food Restaurants
The Front Of La Banquise In Montreal

You can’t go to Montreal without eating the dish that is home to the area, a poutine. La Banquise is another one of my favourite restaurants in Montreal. It features a huge MENU of different poutines. The poutines also come in two sizes; regular and large.

What I thought was really cool was they even deliver on Skip the Dishes. I got in late one night and ordered a poutine to my hotel. The poutine was still hot and the toppings were delicious. Keep in mind that it is very messy eating a poutine out of a take out container.

There is usually a line up outside to get a poutine. The line is very quick as they have many staff members strictly working on getting the line to move quickly which is great.

There are so many different types of poutines to choose from, so you will be sure to find the right one for you!

PRO TIP: If you like tacos, get the La Taquise. It was delicious!

#4. St-Viateur Bagel

Location: 263 Rue Saint- Viateur O, Montréal, QC H2V 1Y1

Hours: Everyday from 6 AM – 12 AM

St. Viateur Bagel In Montreal, Fast Food In Montreal
The Outside Of St. Viateur Bagel Shops

This is another one of my Montreal staples. If you are traveling to Montreal from somewhere else, you need to pick up some bagels to take home. This St. Viateur Bagel location is where you can buy their bagels by the dozen. The bagels are being made fresh all day. You can buy cream cheese from the fridge at this location, but they do not sell bagel sandwiches.

These bagels are world famous for being boiled in honey and cooked in a wood-burning oven. They have flavours such as sesame, all dressed and poppy seed. They aren’t kidding when they say Montreal bagels are different from the others. This is why this spot makes my list of top restaurants in Montreal.

They have different locations and one is a cafe where you can buy bagel sandwiches.

Make sure to check out the location that best suits your needs right on their website!

PRO Tip: Bring cash, because they ONLY accept cash

#5 Wilensky

Location: 34 Av. Fairmount O

Hours: 10am – 4pm Tuesday – Saturday (closed Sunday and Monday)

Wilensky, A Jewish Deli In Montreal Canada
The Outside Of Montreal’S Famous Jewish Deli Shop, Wilensky

This is a famous Jewish deli that started back in 1932 as a cigar shop. When you walk in, you will see old fashioned décor such as soda fountains that they still use to serve their customers soda.

When you commit to heading in Wilenskys, you are committing to not asking any questions about why they do things. Their answer is that it has been like that since 1932.

The Wilensky Special is served with mustard and not cut. This special is $4.57 made with all-beef salami and all-beef bologna. You can add cheese for a few cents more which will bring up the price to $5.01.

You can take your sandwich out for take out which is great since there are only a certain number of stools inside at the bar.

You can also order an all-beef hotdog also served with mustard. Take a look at their menu here!

#6 Tommy Cafe

Location: 151 Saint-Paul St W, Montreal, Quebec H2Y 1Z5

Hours: 8 AM – 4PM every day

The cutest cafe right in the middle of Old Montreal. They offer a huge variety of coffees, pastries, snacks and drinks. The inside of the cafe has a great atmosphere and decor.

I recommend sitting in for a breakfast or lunch just to enjoy the environment. A Bonus is grabbing a sandwich and coffee. Their bagel lox with smoked salmon was to die for! I cannot wait to go back just to get that again.

PRO TIP: There is a line in the cafe starting in the early morning. I would recommend lining up early
