Before traveling to Bali, you MUST know the best restaurants in Ubud so you don’t miss out on the great Ubud food! Before I go on vacation, my favourite thing to do is to research the absolute BEST places to eat in the area. For my travels to Bali, I made sure to find the most delicious Ubud food there is.
When you think of Ubud, you may think of Indonesian cuisine or you may think of beautiful cafes. This is why I have listed some of the best places to eat in Ubud for Indonesian cuisine, as well as the best food in Ubud for western cuisine.
Another thing that I like to do is make sure everything is within walking distance to where I am staying. As someone with many dietary restrictions, I was nervous about travelling to Bali and being able to communicate this. To my delight, I found that most people spoke English very well and it was easy to communicate with them. Due to this, it is pretty easy to request IBS friendly dishes by simply asking βno garlic or onionsβ. Keep reading to find out some of the best places to eat in Bali.

This is, by far was the best lunch Ubud has to offer! It is pricey, but they have a nice atmosphere and great food. I loved coming here as it was so conveniently located in the heart of Ubud centre. Also not to worry, there are definitely food options for everyone and the staff is quite friendly. As everything is so beautifully presented, it also makes for a great picture. If you are looking for a place that serves western cuisine then this is one of the best places to eat in Ubud for you! If you’re interested in taking pictures, this is one of the best restaurants Bali has to offer for that picture perfect lunch.

This was my favourite Indonesian Ubud restaurants! It is very small so I recommend making a reservation either the morning of or the day before. They have a few items that they always make and on top of that, they have a few more daily specials. This Indonesian favourite must be at the top of your list of the best restaurants in Ubud. To be honest, it is so authentic that it probably goes down on my list as the best places to eat in Bali. It is super delicious, and I love their daily specials.
Recommend: Chicken curry with coconut milk and rice.
3. SENIMAN COFFEE STUDIO

Seniman coffee has a nice atmosphere and great coffee! It is very close to the main road, on a street branching off. The coffee here was quite good… Definitely a front runner to be the of Ubud restaurants. They offer a variety of beans and roasts to choose from. It is honestly a great spot to relax at any time of the day. To add on, It also has cocktails at night!
4. KOKOLATO

If you eat gluten-free, you will be in heaven! This place has gluten-free waffle cones made out of black or red rice. Their ice cream is vegan made from coconut and their flavours are unique and all-natural. We had the mint one and a ginger one. They were both the most popular ones and very worth it! It looked like it is family run and they are very kind.
Recommend: Moringa Mint Chip, Raw Cocoa
5. FAIR WARUNG BALE
CLOSED due to COVID19. Hours: 9:30 am – 10:30 pm
Address: l. Sri Wedari No.6, Taman Kaja, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571, Indonesia

This warung had a great atmosphere, as it is situated on a second level patio. 100% of their profits are donated to The Fair Future Foundation. This is a great cause to help people in need by giving them free health and medical care. They have all of the local favourites, and their kitchen is visible so you can see your food being made.
I would say this could make the list for one of the top places for food in Ubud and one of the best places to eat in Bali because of their food but also because of the atmosphere. I find the atmoshere can always make the food taste better. This restaurant is pretty small so I recommend making a reservation. I made one on their website and they sent an email confirmation.
Recommend: Spicy Chicken with Cashews
