Want to know about the best things to do in Canggu? Canggu = surfer central! If you are traveling to Bali, Canggu is a must! Canggu has a younger crowd vibe with amazing food options including vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. It lies in between Seminyak and a popular tourist destination Tanah Lot. Here you will find waves you can surf from sunrise to sunset on Canggu beach or Echo Beach Bali. For those non-surfers like myself, just sit back and watch in awe because they are so much fun to watch!
There are several areas where you can stay in Canggu, but the one I recommend is Batu Bolong. Echo Beach Bali is a very short walk from Batu Bolong, and it is definitely the beach you want to be at! Restaurants, cafes, and beaches are all within walking distance which is a bonus since I love walking!
In Canggu, it is very easy to relax at a beach club, take in the sun, and watch the surfers all day long (this is what I did and I loved it!). The sunset in Canggu is spectacular every single night, so I recommend finding a place to watch it with the rest of the town! What to do in Canggu?
Wondering what to do in Canggu? There is so much to do in Canggu, Bali, but the main thing is to watch the sunset every night! You can watch the sunset at Canggu beach or Echo Beach Bali. Echo Beach Bali has a few popular beach clubs that you will read about below! Keep reading to find out more information.

One of the first places I went to watch the sunset. The Lawn consists of floor seats (on turf), day beds, beach chairs and beach cabanas. The seats on the floor are free to use however, the others require a minimum spend. The minimum spend can be spent on food and drinks!! (yay!).
- Beach chair → 350k (rupiahs)/person
- Day beds → 1k (rupiahs) (Monday-Friday) and 1.5k (rupiahs) (Weekends)
- Beach cabana → 750k (rupiahs) (Monday-Friday) and 1k (rupiahs) (Weekends)
Everything is booked on a first come first serve basis, so I recommend going early to reserve your spot. When I went, I booked a beach chair and it was awesome! This place is another incredible place watch a sunset at Canggu beach.
LA BRISA
Open everyday 7 am – 11:45 pm
Address: Jl. Pantai Batu Mejan, Canggu, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

My absolute favourite place to relax at Canggu beach! If you enjoy rustic decor, you will love this place located right at Echo Beach Bali. Everything is made with reclaimed wood from fisherman boats and it is just breathtaking. I am not exaggerating, you have to check it out! Secret tip: The West side of their deck opens up at 12:30 PM and the sun hits there until it goes down, so if you want to soak up the sun, you should definitely get a spot when it opens up before it fills up.
At La Brisa, they have bean bag chairs on the beach, upper deck or by the pool or they have day cabanas (1k rupiahs minimum spend). The best part of La Brisa is that you can sit on a comfortable bean bag chair ALL DAY for no minimum spend!!
Their menu at La Brisa includes lots of seafood, they even have their own sushi menu. The menu price is pricey (for a budget traveller), but it is nice that they allow you to just relax by the sea without placing a minimum spend. One of my favourite things to do in Canggu was order a sparkling water, sit on a beach bag and watch the surfers do their thing! Can’t you just picture yourself eating great sushi watch the waves at Echo Beach Bali?
I cannot recommend this place enough, can’t you tell? Haha. I promise you, it is worth it even to just take in the outstanding decor. This is #1 on my list of the best things to do in Canggu Bali.
ECHO BEACH CLUB

This was probably my most memorable sunset spots in Canggu. Echo Beach Club has fresh caught seafood that they cook on the BBQ right in front of you. You choose your protein and your side, and then you have unlimited salad bar (if you’re interested in that). The BBQ prawns were delicious! I recommend getting here approximately 1-2 hours before sunset, because you are going to want a picnic bench overlooking the ocean.
If you are wondering what to do in Canggu before you head to your dinner reservation, you have to stop here for happy hour! They have a happy hour from 4 pm-6 pm, so you can grab your picnic bench and enjoy a few drinks while you wait for the sun to set. Another of my top things to do in Canggu is to enjoy the sunset every single night. At Echo Beach Bali, the sunset is absolutely breathtaking, as you can see in my picture below.

They have DJ’s that begin playing at 4 pm daily, and features a variety of music.

Wondering what to do in Canggu after a hot day? Old Man’s is the ultimate chill spot after being in the sun all day. I find that everyone (especially me, haha) gathers here for happy hour to enjoy the 2 for 1 drinks. If you want to grab a seat at a table, you will probably have to go earlier, but even without a table I was able to find a spot to enjoy my drinks. The vibe is very relaxed and easy going. Old Mans is definitely a hot spot for the surfer crowd.

TANAH LOT

Tanah Lot is a Bali Hindu Temple that is located high on a rock facing the wide open ocean. It is a perfect place to go watch Canggu’s beautiful sunset on Echo Beach Bali. Due to Tanah Lot’s popularity at sunset, it will be crowded. An option is to go early in the morning to avoid the crowds. Everyone who visits Canggu, usually motorbikes to Tanah Lot. All the fabulous beach front hangouts are calling our name! Thank you for also including the min. spend amount as sometimes that can some as an unwelcome surprise. Its nice that there are free options as well making it accessible for everyone. We can already see ourselves having cold mocktails at La Brisa and then grabbing dinner at Finns Beach Club.
